Interior House Painting

Basic interior painting typically refers to finishing walls and ceilings with a latex paint. Generally, two coats of paint are required whenever there is color change. The application method for walls is generally by brush and roller while ceiling are typically sprayed and back-rolled. At Stylish Painting, we have found through experience that a systematic approach helps us to deliver the quality job that we have promised you. Below are the general steps we will take on your project. Your situation may vary depending upon your needs as outlined on your Proposal.

Set-up

Items are placed in the center of the room and covered with clean, new plastic sheeting. All floors are protected with drop cloths.

Prepare

Based on your requests, holes and cracks in ceilings and walls are filled; stains are sealed and surfaces are scuff sanded.

Paint

Repaired areas are primed and premium quality paint is applied to a uniform finish.

Clean

Furniture and accessories are moved back to their desired locations. Floors and carpets are vacuumed and swept. All of our materials are removed.

Inspect

After our own inspection, you are invited to inspect our work and asked to complete the feedback card for the crew.

Wash

Paint doesn't adhere well to dirty surfaces. That's why we use high-pressure washers to assure that the surface is free of contaminants before we begin painting. It's the most important step to ensure that our paint job adheres and lasts.

Surface Preparation

Cover sidewalks, shrubs and rooflines

Scrape all loose paint and scuff sand all glossy areas

Nail down any loose boards

Caulk all gaps to prevent water intrusion.

Prime repaired areas and bare spots

Premium quality paint is applied to a uniform finish.

Clean

Clean up is done daily, as well as at the completion of our work. Paint chips are removed and all our materials are packed up and stored neatly.

Inspect

After our own inspection, you are invited to inspect our work and asked to complete the feedback card for the crew.

Enamels

Enamel refers to durable high end paint. Enamels are typically used on cabinets, doors, windows, trim and casing. We are using two different types of enamels:

Water Based Enamels: Water based enamels offer low VOC content for projects that might be occupied during construction. Water based enamels are typically used on project where homeowners need to remain on site or want to keep the project green friendly.

Oil Based Enamels: Oil based enamels have a higher VOC content than water but they are more durable and have a better finished appearance. Oils take 12-24 hours to dry, so they are slower to work with and the environment needs to remain dust free. Oils are typically used on projects where the homeowner may or may not be occupying the home, want a durable & good looking finish that touches up easily.
